....making tracks...

        Making, finding and seeing tracks....

We had an evening by the open fire in our wayside stop, even though we had a few light drizzly showers, it was a very pleasant night.

After a good nights sleep I did the usual wander around the camp, and to my surprise I found some unexpected and fresh......camel tracks....while some were affected by the rain, the others were quite fresh.

They didn't hang around...perhaps they got the hump because we didn't feed them.....

Anyhow we hit the road again, and made our way up the highway, again we have a strong head wind, giving some of the worst fuel economy for the trip so far.

We found ourselves in Karratha.   We had lunch and wander around.  It is an interestinmg town, clearly geared to servicing the mining industry.   Having taken in the highlights, we took the short drive across to Dampier.

Dampier the port used to export the iron ore from Rio Tintos mining operations, exports of LNG (liquified natural gas) and salt.  The port infrastructure is MASSIVE......

Iron ore ships being loaded..

As we were leaving Dampier, we were lucky to see one of the ore trains leaving the port, and was able to catch a few pics.

3 loco's hauling the ore cars.....

I let Bev count 240 ore cars...

I would hate to caught at a level crossing with one of these trains......

Tonight we are again camped at a roadside stop, at Whim Creek.  The wind has dropped for the time being, and the rain has disappeared, so another peaceful nights camping for us.....
