....in the words of Willie Nelson.....
Friday the 6th of June, we are heading out of Broome. We are a bit disappointed that we aren't doing the Gibb River Road, but having spoken to a couple of people it is clear that a lot of the camp grounds, roads and crossings are still out of action.
So plan 'B' it is....
We are headding towards Kununurra, a little over 1000 km away....so our plan is 3 nights free camping.
So we can expect a lot of this for the next few days.
Even though there is a lot of travelling to do, the scenery is constantly changing.
Our first night for this leg of the trip is a wayside rest area at Ellendale. ( the rest area is a graveled patch with drop toilets and a rubbish bins...not flash, but away from the road) We pulled in at about 2:30pm. When we arrived there was already around 8 or 9 other vans/motorhomes...by 6 pm there was about 20.
Saturday morning saw us continue along the highway, passing through Fitzroy Crossing, what a unique place..... What can I say?......Passing through is probably the best thing for Fitzroy Crossing.
| even a bit of wildlife.... |
As is is Sunday morning, the majority of the town is closed, nicely tucked up behind steel bars, razor wire and guard dogs........
We continued on our merry way and tonight we have stopped at the Doon Doon roadhouse......
Tomrrow we hit the big time...Kununurra.....
