.....it's all up hill from here....

Today we travelled out of Albany to "Castle Rock" a granite outcrop promising stunning views....well it's a 4 km round trip, the first 2 km, is up hill, and I mean "UP HILL", through the bush.

Before you get to the top you are rewarded with  Balance rock, an amazing natural formation.

A bit narrow

However, once you get to Castle Rock, you are rewarded by a couple of climbs over boulders, (at least they give hand holds) and a ladder to the viewing platform.

The view from the platform is spectacular.

Me at the top..

Going down??

Fortunately the trip down the track was much easier....

On the way back down you get the chance to admire the bush.......

On the way back to town we stopped of and took in a gallery of chainsaw carvings by a local craftsman, I think I need to brush up my skills with the Makita.....

Run rabbit run....

This is a small smale of the work,

Once back in town we ventured up to the Apex lookout, which pays tribute to the 1st war soldiers, who departed from Albany.  The ANZAC convoys are clearly a big part of Albanys history, this hill was the last view of Australia for many diggers.

Tomorrow morning we move on from Albany...stay tuned....
